Active Underwriter

Daria joined Omega in 2003 as a Property Reinsurance Underwriter with 23 years of industry experience, assuming the role of Active Underwriter of Syndicate 958 in late 2009. Prior to joining Omega, Ms. Vanous was Chief Executive of Europa Re in Cologne, joining that company in 1991. With an MA in Economics, French and Russian and a Masters in International Management, Ms. Vanous is fluent in several languages.

Deputy Underwriter

David has been Deputy Underwriter of the Syndicate since 1995 and has extensive Lloyd’s market experience and a total of 37 years industry experience. Prior to joining Omega, Mr. Burchett was a Joint Deputy Underwriter with Methuen Lloyd’s Underwriting Agents Limited from 1991 until 1994 where he was responsible for the short-tail account in North America and the UK.

Non-marine Property, Package Binding Authority Underwriter

Stephen joined Omega in 2007 as a Non-marine Property, Package Binding Authority Underwriter. With 13 years of industry experience, Stephen previously worked for 10 years at Markel International, heading their binding authority unit for five years.

Professional Indemnity Underwriter

Nicholas has held this position on Syndicate 958 since 2000 and has over 30 years of underwriting experience. Before joining Omega, Nicholas developed a North American professional indemnity account on Syndicate 991, before which he underwrote on Syndicate 484.

Property Reinsurance Underwriter

With 26 years of reinsurance experience, Simon Combe joined the Omega Group in 2003 as a Property Reinsurance Underwriter responsible for underwriting the International Reinsurance Property account. Prior to joining Omega, Simon was Property Underwriter at Europa Re in Cologne, Germany for 6 years.

North American Property Treaty Underwriter

Paul joined Omega in 2009 as a North American Property Treaty Underwriter. With 37 years of Lloyd’s reinsurance industry experience, prior to joining Omega, Paul was with Advent for 9 years and was a Senior Treaty Underwriter at Advent Syndicate 780.

Managing Director & Underwriter

With 27 years reinsurance industry experience, Michael van der Straaten joined the Omega Group in 2003 as the Managing Director and Underwriter at Omega Europe. Prior to joining Omega, Mr. van der Straaten was a Senior Underwriter and Manager at Europa Rück (5 years) and has also held similar level positions for various other Lloyd’s/London Market entities.

Underwriter

With 27 years industry experience, Jürgen Müller joined the Omega Group in 2004 as an Underwriter at Omega Europe. Prior to joining Omega, Mr. Müller was an Underwriter at Europa Rück for13 years and spent 8 years with Cologne Re.

Underwriter

Karen joined Omega Specialty in 2009 as an Assistant Underwriter. Prior to this she was an Assistant Underwriter at IPC Re. Karen has seven years of insurance industry experience.

Chief Operating Officer

Wayne joined the Omega Group in September 2007 as the Chief Operating Officer of Omega US, having spent over 18 years in the insurance industry in London, in both the Lloyd’s and company markets and also in the US managing general agency arena. Prior to joining Omega, he spent 9 years with Burns & Wilcox Ltd., in a variety of positions including as Associate Vice President and as Director of Underwriting.

Vice President – Underwriting

Laura joined Omega US in August 2007 as Vice President of Underwriting. Specialising in Property/ Casualty business, she has 13 years underwriting experience in Property/ Casualty (UK risks) in the London company market and 7 years underwriting experience in Property/ Casualty/ Auto/ Inland Marine (US risks).

Underwriter

Joining Omega US in February 2009, Meredith has 7 years industry experience, 5 of which as an Underwriter of both excess and surplus lines and admitted business.

Associate Underwriter

Mike joined Omega US as an Associate Underwriter in 2009. He has 3 years experience of the excess and surplus lines industry having started his career as a Property & Casualty Insurance Broker.
